Professor Bjarne Ersbøl, DTU Compute, receives DTU’s prize for dedicated public-sector consultancy at DTU’s Annual Party on 3 May 2013.
Professor Bjarne Ersbøl receives the prize on behalf of DTU’s project group behind the socalled IC4 analysis. An IC4 train did not brake as expected, but went beyond a stop signal.
DTU experts deliver the necessary basis for decisions
The group consisted of researchers within various expert fields. Within a few months the group members succeeded in combining their competences and analysing the train’s braking system based on millions of test run data.
Their results and recommendations to the transport minister and DSB in June 2012 were decisive for the authorities’ decisions.
This is a good example of how a DTU expert team solves a complex task and delivers the necessary basis for decisions
