Bacterial Cell Factories
The Bacterial Cell Factory Optimisation group focuses on developing tools for production of biochemicals by engineering of novel biosynthetic pathways in bacterial production organisms through metabolic engineering, systems and synthetic biology. The group also focuses on utilisation of alternative carbon sources in order to decrease the production cost of bulk biochemicals.
The group's main focus is:
- Folding of heterologous proteins in E. coli
- Utilisation of alternative carbon sources
- Production of value-added biochemicals
The Bacterial Cell Factory Optimisation group is located at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, DTU Biosustain and it is headed by Professor Alex T. Nielsen.
