25 – 29 August 2014, international summer school at DTU Energy Conversion.

The summer school “IMAGINE: Methods in Imaging of Energy Material Microstructure” focuses on imaging of energy material microstructure by electrons, X-rays, ions, and neutrons. This year the summer school takes place at Toruplund close to Hundested and the fee is "all-inclusive".

At IMAGINE, several internationally renowned researchers from Denmark and abroad will teach the fundamentals within imaging in 2D and 3D and reveal the latest state-of-the-art developments in the fields of electron, ion, X-ray, and neutron-based microscopy techniques. IMAGINE focuses primarily on the application of these techniques to a broad range of energy materials and energy devices—from fuel cells to solar cells—and reveals how they aid scientific and technological breakthroughs. Other focus areas of IMAGINE are 3D imaging of microstructure and image analysis and their importance in gaining understanding of processes and phenomena in energy devices.

The summer school targets PhD students as well as other researchers with interests in the fields of fuel cells, solar cells, catalysis, batteries, electrochemistry, materials science, and microscopy. Participating PhD students will have the possibility of earning up to 2.5 ECTS points.

IMAGINE offers lectures by international experts, Interactive presentation sessions, group work, hands-on imaging experience, poster presentation of your research, and feedback on your project.

IMAGINE also includes a day of experimental laboratory work at DTU’s imaging facilities at Lyngby and Risø campuses (bus transport from Toruplund will be arranged). To qualify for ECTS points, participating students will be required to present their research at the poster sessions.

IMAGINE aims for a relaxed learning environment with ample time to interact with the participating researchers. See also the Department web page http://www.ecs.dtu.dk/phdsummerschool
