On Monday 2 December 2013 AppGarage celebrates its first anniversary with a classic Demo Day event combined with a pitch competition.

The concept of a Demo Day is simple. The eight AppGarage teams each get a table where they show a demo of what they have developed during the past year.

Fierce pitch competition

When the clock strikes 6 pm more than 70 guests from near and far are watching the eight selected teams from AppGarage in a fierce pitch competition. Even though all eight teams have clearly made remarkable progress over the past year, it’s obvious that some are ahead.

Airtame wins the pitch competition

The winner of the pitch competition is Airtame. On the very same day Airtame actually raises USD 155,000 from an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign and reaches their USD 160,000 goal just an hour after the end of the pitch competition. It's hard to argue with that amount of market validation! Until today they have collected approx USD 204,000.

Airtame has developed a small HDMI dongle which you plug into your screen, TV or projector. When you have installed Airtame’s software on your computer you may project the picture from your computer or tablet to the screen, TV or projector through a wireless connection.

This is seriously the end of cables and other strange adaptors.

Runner-ups are Pelvy with their smart pelvic toner and Lifematter with an app to treat depression in the 21st century.

Great maturity

Generally speaking, the jury spokesman, James Digby, mentions that the teams are very balanced and that the jury is very pleasantly surprised by the maturity of the projects.
