Nikolaj Kjelgaard Vedel-Smith and Niels Skat Tiedje from the Cast Iron group received the prize Best Paper Award April 9th at the annual AFS Metalcasting Congress in USA.

The paper ”Quantification of Feeding Effects of Spot Feeding Ductile Iron Castings Made in Vertically Parted Molds” is written in collaboration with Jan Sällström from FOSECO AB and Kenneth T. Maza  from Vald.Birn A/S.

The American Foundry Society’s 118th Metalcasting Congress is the largest congress of its kind in Northern America, and about 2200 people from all over the world participated in it this spring. The purpose of the congress is to promote knowledge of the latest technological development within the area of metal casting. The congress took place from April 8th to April 11th in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The Cast Iron group is part of the section Manufacturing Engineering, DTU Mechanical Engineering.

The paper ”Quantification of Feeding Effects of Spot Feeding Ductile Iron Castings Made in Vertically Parted Molds” can be found in Orbit.

Best Paper Award
From the left: Jan Sällström, FOSECO AB, Nikolaj Kjelgaard Vedel-Smith, DTU Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Kenneth T. Maza, Vald.Birn A/S. Niels Skat Tiedje from DTU Mechanical Engineering also received the prize, but didn't attend the congress.
