Every year the World Cultural Council grants special recognitions to a select number of talented researchers who early in their careers have had international impact through their research. Eight Danish researcher were awarded the WCC Special Recognition as recipients of European Research Council Starting Grants in 2011.
The awards were presented by Mexico’s ambassador in Denmark Martha Bárcena Coqui, Edmond H. Fischer, chairman of the World Cultural Council and 1992 Nobel Award winner in medicine, and rector Lauritz B. Holm, Aarhus University.

Nanotechnology researcher, professor Anders Baun (DTU Environment) were awarded 2012 World Cultural Council special recognitions at the annual award ceremony which was held at Aarhus University the 18th of April in conjunction with the conference Excellence 2012.
