The Danish Council for Independent Research Technology and Production Sciences’ (FTP) have granted 6,478,560 kroner to Professor Peter Vang Hendriksen from DTU Energy Conversion. Among more than 300 applications for the research grants, Peter Vang Hendriksen’s project "Green Production of Nanomaterials for Energy Conversion" was so interesting that it got one of the largest grants.
The project concerns an environmentally friendly production of nanostructured materials using continuous hydrothermal synthesis. The method provides a high degree of control of the structure of the synthesized materials and can be easily up-scaled to actual industrial production. The project will attempt to produce advanced two-phase nanostructures in a single continuous process by developing special reactor nozzles where two different starting materials can be supplied. It will for example allow nanoparticles of a given material to be placed on the surface of a second phase.
