The Fire Safety Day 2014 at the Technical University of Denmark is taking place on Thursday June 12th. The conference is organised by DTU Civil Engineering and is the fourth in a row. This conference is the fire event growing in size and expanding geographically. The aim of the fire safety day is to put focus on fire research in the Nordic countries and Europe. 

A large number of industrial exhibitors and sponsors enables the free participation of students of the day. The day will give opportunities to tie band between fire industry, municipalities and University.

The topics range from fire safety aspects concerning:

  • fire dynamics and chemistry,
  • modelling,
  • forensics,
  • evacuation and human behaviour,
  • fire risk management,
  • structural fire safety, and
  • management of rescue service.

 

As forensic investigations carried out in connection with court cases in Denmark has been a matter of discussion. This year’s conference topic is forensics. The Department looks forward to hear the key lecture by Dr. Richard Roby. He will speak “On the need for science in fire investigations”. Dr. Roby is President and Technical Director, Combustion Science & Engineering, Columbia, has an affiliation at the Department of Fire Protection Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, and is CEO at LPP Combustion, in Columbia. He has been working with forensics for many years. On this year’s Fire Safety Day we will also initiate a Danish chapter (section) of the Society of Fire Protection engineers (SFPE).
