Analytics Unit

The Analytics unit is part of the iLoop Core at DTU Biosustain and supports the other iLoop groups, other sections and commerical partners by providing analytical services, support and expertise.

The overall goal of this unit is to provide efficient and high-throughput solutions in order to accelerate the development and optimization of microbial cell factory for commercial applications.  

The group operates using the principle of fit for purposes when it comes to the development of assays to answer biological questions. Assay are developed that balance precision and accuracy with efficiency and throughput, whilst meeting the need of the investigator.

The group primarily uses Gas Chromatography (GC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography ((U)HPLC) either stand alone or in combination with mass spectrometry.

For equipment not present on site we collaborate with other departments within DTU.

A broad range of compounds are analysed, from biological precursors to end products, small molecules to biopolymers including proteins.

Both targeted and non-targeted methods are employed dependant on the question being asked.

    • Shot-gun
    • Top down
    • PTM, including phosphorylation and glycan analysis
    • Protein purity measurements

The Analytics lab at DTU Biosustain is lucky to operate in a dynamic and challenging environment with state of the art equipment, to help solve problems of significant social and economic importance to Denmark and the whole world.
