We are seeking a talented and motivated post doctorial associate at the Bacterial Synthetic Biology section led by Professor Morten Sommer at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark.

The present opportunity relates to our studies of genetic stability of production strains in fermentations and long-term cultivations.

Responsibilities and tasks
The candidate shall work independently on the development of high impact research projects. Accordingly, a significant workload is expected in order to advance projects successfully.

The candidate shall investigate genetic heterogeneity in production strains and work on strategies for mitigating the problem.

The candidate will be responsible for the execution of all aspects of the project including both experimental and computational tasks; however, support is available for all aspects from fellow lab members.

Starting date:1st April 2018.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

The preferred candidate has excellent academic track record, solid research experience and is highly motivated towards developing new technology and making scientific breakthroughs.

The candidate shall:
  • have experience within deep-sequencing of biotechnological production strains and cell lines
  • be experienced within genetic engineering of bacteria and yeast with a  biotechnological aim
  • have computational experience within development of algorithms for detecting cell factory genetic heterogeneity in microbial populations
  • have demonstrated a capability for scientific innovation within stabilization of biotechnological production strains

Salary and terms of employment
The appointments will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years.
