Section for New Bioactive Compounds

Within this section, research is being performed to discover multiple small molecules that are broad-spectrum inhibitors against multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacterial pathogens. Various microorganisms will be metabolically engineered to overproduce the bioactive molecules discovered.

More specific research topics include:

  • Discovery of novel natural products by co-culture technology
  • Identification and characterization of novel products
  • Deciphering the mechanisms of action
  • Metabolic engineering of microorganisms for the efficient production of natural products discovered

The section is located at DTU Biosustain premises at DTU Lyngby and headed by professor Sang Yup Lee.

In this video, CO-PI Senior Researcher Tilmann Weber explains about his career at DTU Biosustain.
