Core - Translational Research Unit
The Core of the center performs translational research in a company management structure format. This implies a management team and operation as a unit that can effectively interact with commercial concerns and spin-out new companies.
The CFB is centered on the development of the computational and experimental technologies that enable the Core workflow and its iterative loop to flow as smoothly as possible and in an balanced fasion to avois bottlenecks in the process. The technological drivers for the Core can be grouped into roughly four categories:
Bioanalytics
These technologies will drive and hone the the iterative design loop and accelerate the the generation of both production and platform strains, thus significantly advancing the overall goal of CFB.
The CFB currently has 13 ongoing translational research projects. These projects have an applied emphasis, a variable duration of 12-24 months, and can be rapidly terminated and initiated, as is typical for a company setting. The data and IT department have a permanent function. Each project is headed by an experienced researcher at a high international level and some with notable experience from industry.
