Awards and Honors

Professor Nielsen’s honors include the Fulbright Fellowship (1995), Sunner Memorial Lecture (2002), Hough Memorial Lecture (2004), and the Merck Award for Metabolic Engineering (2004). He is an elected member of the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences since 1997, The Royal Danish Academy of Science and Letters since 2010, and the US National Academy of Engineering since 2010.

 

Publication Summary

Professor Nielsen has published > 300 peer-reviewed papers, >30 book chapters and has authored/co-authored three text books: Bioreaction Engineering (1994, 2003), Metabolic Engineering (1998), and Metabolome Analysis (2007). His work has been cited more than 7,000 times and he has an h-index of 44.

 

Patenting and Technology Transfer

Professor Nielsen has 32 issued patents and 18 patent applications. He is the founder of GeneCare ApS (1997), founder and CEO of N&N Biotech ApS (1997-2001), founder, CEO (2002-2004), and CSO (2002-2008) of Fluxome Sciences A/S (2002-), and founder of MycoTeQ A/S (2006-2009).
